CEDAR LAB

Advancing research in
Consciousness
Evaluation
Diagnosis
And
Recovery
after brain injury
The Consciousness Evaluation, Diagnosis, and Recovery (CEDAR) Lab aims to advance brain injury clinical care by bringing scientific
evidence to the bedside.
Our goal is to design, implement, and disseminate research that is meaningful to people with brain injury lived experience and to equip clinicians with the tools they need to optimize brain injury recovery.
Cedar trees are known for their strength, resilience, and capacity for renewal in challenging environments. These qualities embody patients with brain injury and caregivers, highlighting the potential for adaptation, recovery, and growth after brain injury.
The CEDAR Lab is embedded within the Vanderbilt Health Critical Illness, Brain Dysfunction, and Survivorship (CIBS) Center
